3rd Grade Special Activities

The 3rd grade class has had a couple of special activities in the past few weeks to enrich their Social Studies curriculum.  On Friday, November 9th, they walked down to the Cunningham museum for a tour in its new location.  Donna and Vernon Glenn were there to greet us and answer our questions.  Since we've been learning about immigrants and ancestors, it was interesting to see what types of tools and toys they had to work and play with.  We were the first class to visit the local museum and we encourage others to take advantage of this learning experience.

On Friday, November 16, we were privileged to have a local veteran, Lt. Col. Scott Hamilton, come and visit us, along with the 4th and 5th grade classes, to talk about his experiences in the military.  He signed up in 1982 and has been deployed overseas three different times.  His most recent assignment was to Afghanistan.  Special coins he has received were passed around the group and he answered many good questions about his time in the military and talked to us about the importance of having good discipline.  We thank him and ALL veterans who bravely serve our country!
