"Do the best you can where you are with what you have."   - Theodore Roosevelt

Once upon a time signature, a "fine arts" teacher was born.  My roots come from the Swedish towns of Lindsborg and Marquette.  It was due to my parents' love of art and music, that I became inspired to become a music teacher and later an art teacher.  My father was a science teacher (Biology, Chemistry, and Physics) while my mother was a stay at home mom until the kids left for college.  I graduated from Mulvane High School and then attended Emporia State University for my Bachelor of Music Education Degree and Wichita State University for my Master of Choral Music Education Degree.  I have taught 33 years, 29 of those at Cunningham. Yee-ha how the time flies................

I live in Hutchinson with the love of my life, Marla, an awesome woman from the great state of Nebraska.  Marla and I have been married 29 years. We met in Howard Kansas as teachers at West Elk High School.  After a long stint in special education, Marla now teaches at Victory Village Christian Academy, a boarding school for wounded teenage girls. We share our home with our four-legged children:  Lily Elizabeth, Dee-dee Marie, and Ashe Wayne.  Yes, they are spoiled rotten and have us wrapped around their little paws.

Weekends you will find me cheering on The Nebraska Cornhuskers and at the piano at Tenth Avenue United Methodist Church.  Summers you will find me teaching Elementary Art Workshops at Friends University in Wichita.
