CGS 3rd, 4th, and 5th Graders Go On Field Trip
The morning started out a little colder and windier than the standard May field trip weather, but the 3rd, 4th, & 5th CGS students braved the elements to spend the day in Goddard and Wichita. Accompanied by their classroom teachers and a faithful gathering of parents, the group of 32 started off the day at the Tanganyika Wildlife Park. Park employee Erinn took us by the marmosets and gibbons before stopping to share a snack with the lemurs (like King Julian). This is the only park that allows visitors to actually feed the lemurs, and dried cranberries are a favorite! Our tour ended with an educational experience entitled "The Unhuggables". The students learned why snakes, bees, sharks, alligators, bears, tortoises, and tigers might not make the best pets. Erinn brought out a ball python and a hedge hog for the students to "pet".
After lunch and a quick stretch at the play area, it was off to Wichita and the KWCH, Ch. 12 station. Michelle took us through the different broadcasting rooms and even showed us the new HD headquarters. Roger Cornish was waiting for us at his anchor desk. Each student got a turn sitting at the anchor desk, and a signed photo from Roger himself. Then Mrs. Milburn took a group photo before we said good-bye and started our trip back to Cunningham. What a nice way to spend a Thursday!
