Cross Country Runners Break Personal Records at League

Due to the large amounts of rain this past week the HOPL cross country meet was moved to Pretty Prairie on October 11, 2018.  The cross country course became a road course with the participants running on the streets.  This change made for a fast race as most participants recorded personal best marks.

Daylen Schnittker again led the way for the Cunningham squad with a 5th place finish in a time of 17:42.25.  Henry Huelskamp placed 23rd in 20:02.38 with Skylar Hennessee right behind in a time of 20:08.97.  Shawn Snow placed 28th and Vitor Abreu came in 28th and 34th in times of 21:41.28 and 23:09.59, respectively.  All these times were more than a minute faster than their previous personal best times.

Along with Daylen’s 5th place medal, he also made all-league by finishing in the top 10.  His time of 17:42.25 also set a new school record in a 5K race previously held by Luke Panek.

The winning time of 15:32.32 was run by Collin Oswalt from Central Christian.  The remaining top 10 finishers were: Jackson Wallace, Skyline; Cayden Brozek, Stafford; Adreono Ibarra, C. Christian; Daylen Schnittker, Cunningham; Erik Ghumm, Skyline; Jacob Swisher, Skyline; Tokiwa Armstrong, Burrton; Colby Shriver, Skyline; Race Allen, Pretty Prairie.

The team will compete at the Regional meet held at the Cessna Activity Center in Wichita on October 20, 2018 at 11:50am.
